  • Credit Europe Bank (Nederlands) of Fiba Group, a bank with its Euro 10 billion asset size, undersigned a share purchase-sale contract with Banco Comercial Portugues (“BCP”) by purchasing 95% of its shares in Millennium Bank Turkey. The total amount of this contract is determined as Euro 61.8 million and it became effective as of 27 December 2010 after granting the approvals of the regulatory instutitions. The official title of the bank is changed as “Fibabanka A.Ş.” on 12 May 2011. Fibabanka A.Ş. asset size has reached to TL 1.5 billion as of April 2011. The bank provides corporate, commercial and retail banking services to its clients with its 20 branches in İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Bursa and Antalya. 13 of these branches are located in İstanbul.

  • Credit Europe Bank (Holland) signed a share purchase agreement with Banco Comercial Portugues (“BCP”) to buy 95% shares of Millenium Bank Turkey on February 9, 2010. The total amount was determined to be EUR 61.8 million, and the agreement will be effective after the required approvals of regulatory authorities.

  • Fiba Group signed a share purchase agreement with Sompo Japon Insurance Inc. which is a subsidiary of Japon NKSJ Holdings Inc. to sell its 93.36% shares in Fiba Insurance on June 15, 2010. The total value of Fiba Insurance was determined to be TL 499.6 million (USD 350 million), and the closing took place on November 2, 2010.

  • As of November 2010, total number of Marks & Spencer, Gap and Banana Republic stores in Turkey, Russia and Ukraine reached 100.

  • Following its first wind energy plant with 15 MW installed capacity in Bergama, Fina Energy completed construction of its second wind energy plant in Hatay with an installed capacity of 35 MW. In addition to that, a capacity increase to 30 MW at its Bergama plant in İzmir has been completed in September 2010.

  • Özyeğin University has launched two new undergraduate engineering programs (Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering), a new master’s degree program in engineering (Electrical-Electronics) and two new doctoral programs (Business Administration and Electrical-Electronics Engineering). In September, the University also started the construction of its new energy efficient and green campus at Çekmeköy, Istanbul. As of October 2010, total number of students studying at the University has exceeded 1,000.

  • Star Mall Shenyang Plaza, a 325,000 m2 mixed-use development in Shenyang, China, provides a unique shopping mall experience loaded with top-notch international and local retailers with its 128,000 m2 gross leasable area. A top grade office tower as the part of Shenyang Plaza is there to serve city with top quality companies. Star Mall Shenyang Plaza, scheduled to be opened by June 2012, will become a new Life Center for the Shenyang consumers serving the community with a top quality service and environment.

  • In 2010, Girişim NPL Management further solidified its leading position in the asset management industry by acquiring 5 new portfolios with total principal amount of USD 399 million from Yapı Kredi Bank, Fortis Bank, Citibank, Turkland Bank and ABank.
