Anadolu Japan Turizm A.Ş. (Swissôtel the Bosphorus, İstanbul)
Anadolu Japan Turizm A.Ş. (AJT) invested in 1987 in a 5-star hotel, which is known as Swissotel The Bosphorus, Istanbul. This was the first direct Japanese investment in Turkey. AJT rented a property covering a surface area of 84.965 sqm from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for 43 years under the Built-Operate-Transfer (B-O-T) formula. In 1987, the Company also signed an operating agreement with, what was then called Swissair Nestle Swissotel Ltd. for 20 years. On 24 April 2001, Raffles International Ltd. (RIL) -a Singapore registered company- acquired Swissotel. Swissotel currently operates 30 Hotels and Resorts worldwide, and is represented in 16 countries. In April 2005, Fiba Group purchased the shares of AJT. At 24 November 2010, AJT purchased the land occupied by Swissotel, The Bosphorus from Istanbul Municipality under a privatization auction at a cost of TL 421 million.
Opened in 1991, Swissotel The Bosphours, Istanbul covers a surface area of 84.965 sqm and has 497 rooms and 63 serviced residential apartments. 274 of those are overlooking the Bosphorus. The Hotel operates various Restaurants and Bars with cuisines ranging from Turkish to International, continental gourmet cuisine, Swiss cuisine and Japanese and Chinese cuisine. A wide varity of meeting facilities, including Fuji Ballroom, with 1.100 sqm the biggest of its kind in Istanbul complete the offering.
The International Readers` Selection Awards, organized by Conde Nast Traveler magazine on annual basis ranked Swissotel The Bosphorus, Istanbul as one of the Best 75 Hotels in Europe in 2005. Furthermore, Swissotel The Bosphours, Istanbul ranked as one of the Best Hotels in the World in the Gold List of Conde Nast Traveler in 2006.
Travel+Leisure, one of the best selling tourism magazines of the world, ranked Swissotel The Bosphours, Istanbul as one of the Best 500 Hotels in the World in 2007.
Swissotel The Bosphorus, Istanbul was elected the 25th in the list of the Best 100 Hotels in Europe by the U.S. edition of Conde Nast Magazine 2008.
Swissôtel The Bosphorus has been chosen The Best Istanbul Hotel by the www.gecce.com (one of the biggest portal in Turkey) in 2009 and 2010. Gaja Restaurant has been chosen The Best Hotel Restaurant by the www.gecce.com in 2009 and 2010. The hotel took place in the Gold List 2009 Condé Nast Traveler Magazine and also chosen as “One of the 500 Best Hotels of the World 2009” Travel + Leisure Magazine.
Swissôtel The Bosphorus was awarded by Luxury Hotel Awards as the most luxurious hotel of Turkey in 2011.
Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul continues investing on the structure and the design of the building to increase the satisfaction of both Turkish and international guests. With its values which can be summarized by the motto “We do unto others as we would have them do unto us” and Swiss traditions, Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul carries out its social responsibility projects with distinguished partners such as ACEV (Mother Child Education Foundation), TOCEV (Tuvana Foundation for Educating Children) and LOSEV (Foundation for Children with Leukemia). It also supports individual projects like donating to Cerrahpasa Hospital for renewing the emergency department.
In the year 2011, Turkey’s 20 most famous artists created angle-formed sculptures with their authentic designs for the project “Geleceğe 20 Açı” (20 Angles to the Future) for the benefit of ACEV under the scope of the 20th Anniversary of Swissôtel the Bosphorus, Istanbul. The income of the project was donated to Mother Child Education Foundation (ACEV) which creates education opportunities for a better future.
When it comes to its approach to total quality management systems, Swissôtel the Bosphorus passed the following audits: ISO 9000 (quality system), ISO 22000 (food safety and hygiene management system), ISO 14000 (environmental management system), OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).
Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul ranked among the first hotels awarded by Beyaz Yıldız (White Star) in Turkey by The Ministry of Tourism. This award recognizes the hotel’s efforts made in the area of environmental management.
Swissotel The Bosphorus was one of the first certified facilities in the White Star Project organized by TUROFED (Turkish Hoteliers Federation) for contributing to a cleaner and sustainable environment. It was entitled to the certificate A+, the highest category, as a result of the audit executed in August under the White Star Certification Program. With all these awards, Swissôtel the Bosphorus, Istanbul, both implements the projects to increase its service quality and satisfaction and supports social responsibility activities. Alongside its quality, the hotel gains great appreciation of European readers with its magnificent Bosphorus view, and is planning to move into upper ranks with its targets for 2012.
